Jen Shyu’s Fertile Land, Fertile Body @ Vision Festival
The Vision Festival, an annual internationally-acclaimed festival in New York City, celebrates Black multicultural improvised creative arts. It showcases experimental music, dance, poetry, and visual arts with a strong emphasis on improvisation. Jen Shyu presents an in-progress edition of her epic project {Fertile Land, Fertile Body}, a multilingual ritual opera comprising ancient and original music, dance, and projection, exploring the loss of mother, loss of motherhood, and human-caused environmental toxicity and genocide’s effects on climate change and our fertility.

Alexandria DeWalt Quartet @ Brower Park

BKCM joins several community partners and neighbors for a joyful afternoon of events and activations in the park from 11 am-3 pm, and BKCM Jazz Leadership Fellow Alexandria DeWalt‘s quartet will give a special performance at 2 pm.
